International Paper Triennial – 2020

The Musée de Charmey is delighted to host the 10th edition of the International Paper Triennial, an exhibition–competition founded in 1993 in partnership with the artist Viviane Fontaine.

The 2020 edition celebrates this vibrant, diverse and popular art form with a carefully curated selection of 74 works by 72 artists from 17 countries.

Through their lyrical, contemporary works, the artists explore our relationship with the world, with our fellow human beings, and with paper itself. They harness the infinite possibilities that the medium offers, transforming it into objects as wide-ranging as rocks, armour, lanterns, landscapes and skin.

Even the names given to paper like Le Grand soleil, Gouttes de pluie and Montgolfier are as evocative as the poetry and stories that this age-old material has to tell.
